INTERVIEW WITH: CARLA RIVERO
Can you tell us about your background?
I have been practicing yoga for about 15 years and just recently completed my YTT with the lovely Lauren.
When not in the studio or at my desk job you may find me in my garden, on the road with my bike, or on the trails walking my little pooch. When opportunity allows I love to travel and experience new places, cultures and most importantly- food!
What brought you to yoga?
I have always been very active - running, cycling- I need to move! I initially tried yoga as simply another activity. I quickly realized how yoga helps maintain an active lifestyle and it became a complement to my other activities. When I discovered Vinyasa and experienced the benefits of linking breath to movement and the impact on emotion and mind I was completely hooked.
Why did you decide to become a teacher?
I initially took the teacher training to deepen my own practice. The training was inspiring and I realized I had much to share.
What do you love most about teaching?
I love the collective sigh from the blissful faces in the room at the end of a class.
What is your favorite pose?
I love Half Moon. It is a challenging pose of balancing and striving (just like daily life)!
What should students expect from you?
Students should expect a fun practice with opportunities to recharge and restore. I encourage students to listen to the teacher within- your body will tell you what it needs.
What do you want your students to take away from your teachings?
I hope students will discover how moving the body can change the energy of the mind.
Proudest yoga moment?
Completing my Yoga Teacher Training.
Most embarrassing yoga moment?
What makes me laugh? When I name the wrong body part while cueing! I am really not trying to turn you into a pretzel!

My love of movement and the peace of mind that follows
What is your advice for new yoga students?
Be kind to yourself and enjoy the experience of transformation
